In Case You Missed April’s New Restaurants…

new restaurants April 2026, UURO Causeway Bay, Bagels, Italian Japanese Fusion

UURO — Italian-Japanese fusion cuisine with a focus on bagels

At Team Sassy, we try our fair share of meals, so seriously impressing the team is a feat reserved for the greatest — and we can confirm that UURO has just made the list. Its highlight undoubtedly is the bagels, creating a comforting and mood-lifting aroma from the minute you enter its nearly 10,000sqft sprawling space. The flavours are carb-lover coded, with cheese & jalapeño and spring onion among our highlights. Its range of cream cheeses (from nduja to yuzu to its house special) is also ideal for building your ideal bite. Cooked plates are equally fantastic, flavourful and fabulous. If our office were closer, we would be here every day! So for the lucky ones who live in the area, go for a gorgeous meal (and soak up the genuinely lovely service) and take home a bagel (or three!).

new restaurants April 2026, happy samurai

Happy Samurai — Hokkaido-style ramen in Central

Happy Samurai is easy to walk straight past and that’s part of the appeal of this hole-in-the-wall eatery. Tucked behind an unassuming doorway just off the Wellington Street market stalls, this small ramen shop in Central serves bowls built on a broth that’s been in Chef Kouji’s family for over 80 years. His mother’s family still runs the original ramen shop just outside Sapporo, and that four-generation recipe is exactly what ends up in your bowl. What’s also incredible is that every broth on the menu is plant-based. The tonkotsu ramen is rich and creamy, the tantan ramen packs a satisfying heat and the shoyu ramen is deeply savoury with umami flavours, but also differing from what you expect from a ‘traditional’ version.

Must-try Dishes: Spicy Tantan Ramen ($138)
Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday, 11:30am to 11pm; Sunday closed
Address: Happy Samurai, Shop A, G/F, 51 Wellington Street, Central, Hong Kong, 5688 5151

new restaurants April 2026, Chao

Chao — Southeast Asian comfort food in Kwun Tong

Kwun Tong just got a whole lot more delicious. Chao, a new Southeast Asian dining destination, lands at The Millennity with 100 seats, a sprawling alfresco terrace and a menu spanning Thai, Vietnamese and Singaporean flavours. Helming the kitchen is Thai Head Chef Aom, whose extensive experience working in Hong Kong kitchens (including a stint leading Nara Thai) come across in every dish. The boat noodles are served in traditional stainless-steel pots that keep the broth piping and fragrant; the heritage curries — particularly the Vietnamese-style yellow coconut beef brisket — are thick, aromatic and deeply satisfying; and the homemade crêpe cakes and pandan ice cream will convince you to save room for dessert. With happy hour running daily from 12pm to 8pm and dogs welcome on the terrace, Chao has engineered a near-perfect excuse to extend any meal into an evening.

new restaurants april 2026, thongsmith

ThongSmith — Bangkok’s boat noodle institution debuts in Wan Chai

If you’ve ever found yourself slurping boat noodles in Bangkok and wondering why nothing in Hong Kong quite hits the same way, your wait is over. ThongSmith, the beloved noodle concept from Iberry Group (the Bangkok-based F&B powerhouse behind 22 brands), has opened its first-ever international location in Wan Chai, and it is every bit as good as its reputation suggests. The signature broth, simmered eight hours with galangal, star anise, lemongrass and pickled garlic provides a delicious foundation for the noodles. The ingredients are premium too, think Australian Wagyu ribeye and Kurobuta pork. The Hong Kong menu has some exclusive dishes such as Karn’s Fried Rice, a peppery and well-balanced version, and Chalee’s Chicken Ko Lae, where coconut-marinated chicken thighs are charred, basted in Ko Lae curry and served with cucumber salad.
