However, Matchali’s Coconut Matcha Pistachio Butter & Banana Toast has got it just right, using sweet banana and creamy coconut matcha pistachio butter on top of lightly toasted sourdough for a delectable aftertaste. MY KITCHEN — Beloved Tibetan neighbourhood eatery serving handmade momos
The phrase “neighbourhood hidden gem” is thrown around a lot when it comes to food, especially in Hong Kong, but there’s (truthfully) no better definition of the phrase than MY KITCHEN. This hole-in-the-wall eatery not only boasts an incredible 4.9 Google rating review, but it also serves as a welcoming and friendly spot for locals and those passing through Jordan. Run by a husband and wife duo, MY KITCHEN’s team handcrafts each dumpling with utmost care that feels (and tastes) like home cooking away from home. Our highlights this month are the steamed chicken momos and the fried beef momos, which are so scrumptious, you’ll feel sad as you start to get full!

We’re always chasing the perfect matte lip at Team Sassy, so when Queen Veena found the Haus Labs Le Monster Lip Crayon, we knew it was special. Opting for Mahogany Matte, Veena (and our whole team) noticed how much better it looked in person, rather than in pictures! The crayon tip makes for super clean application, lasts for hours, smells great and isn’t desert-level drying (the eternal problem with matte lips). We may or may not already be eyeing a second shade.
Sassy Tip: While the crayon isn’t drying, we do still recommend moisturising your lips beforehand to avoid patchiness.

Our team has caught the thrifting bug, with Social Media Editor Grace also raving about her latest find! “I found a Nensi Dojaka for Calvin Klein blazer set for $700 with the tags still on!” she gushes. “Let Them” by Mel Robbins — A self-help book designed to help you achieve a more peaceful outlook
Worried they’ll misunderstand you? Let them. Think they’ll see you as no fun? Let them. This is the motto and energy we’re living by, and since Grace discovered the “Let Them” theory by Mel Robbins, her outlook has become more positive. She explains, “As a lifelong people-pleaser, I used to spiral anytime someone didn’t react the way I hoped — instantly assuming they didn’t like me or that I’d done something wrong. But this book changed the way I think about myself, my relationships and how to become a better person. Let people be them, and let you be you.”

Alysa Liu — Halo Hair & Pink Pantheress Routine
As if there wasn’t another reason to fall more in love with Pink Pantheress’ earworm, Alysa Liu just had to perform the most fun and kitschy routine to the track. We adored seeing her supportive spirit, halo hair and smiley piercing in full swing as she made one of the best Olympic comebacks in history!

Punch The Monkey — Viral Japanese Baby Monkey at Ichikawa City Zoo who has captured the heart of millions
Who doesn’t love baby animals, and baby animals with a story? We’re sold! We’ve been consistently keeping up with Punch the Monkey (and his Ikea orangutan!), getting accepted by the other monkeys, fighting with others and finding his favourite zookeeper! Punch’s whole story has been devastating in the sweetest, most heartbreaking way and you can believe Team Sassy will be rooting for Punch throughout March!
Bridgerton — Alternative history regency romance television series with positive POC representation
TV fanatic (and quasi-expert) Veena binged the first half of Bridgerton’s season 4 quickly. While it ended on the most frustrating note ever (iykyk), it did make her incredibly excited for the second half. “So far, I’ve enjoyed this season more than season 3 because it’s more centred on the main couple and flounders less with all the side plots,” she notes, adding, “I can’t wait to see how the rest of the story develops between Sophie and my (once-) favourite sibling, Benedict!” Plus, we adore Sophie Baek (win for good Asian representation!), who has completely won over our hearts.

Heated Rivalry — LGBTQIA-positive Canadian hockey romance series
For the past few months, Grace has been talking non-stop about Heated Rivalry, moving from the series to the books and even to merch. It’s a move that’s inspired multiple team members, especially Veena, to follow suit, and Veena has now watched it a whopping three times. She says, “I will probably start up again soon. I’m not out here recommending it to my parents, but to everyone else – absolutely!” Grace adds that its focus on LGBTQ rights and its awareness of the community is great, highlighting how when Shane’s mum learns of his sexual orientation, she begins to reflect on her parenting style to become more supportive. We’re following Veena and Grace’s lead and recommend that all watch this touching and relevant series!

‘Ghost-Eye’ by Amitav Ghosh — A poignant novel which blends Bengali mythology with pertinent world issues
We’re gearing up for the Hong Kong International Literary Festival, and Suchetana’s book of choice is Ghost-Eye, which she claims, “left me genuinely floored!” Amitav Ghosh’s storytelling is deeply personal, reminding Sassy’s Executive Editor of her hometown, Kolkata. But the real magic lies in how Amitav Ghosh blends Bengali mythology and folk traditions with urgent, real-world issues like climate change. It’s magic realism with its feet firmly on the ground. For a haunting and timely novel, Ghost-Eye is the one.

‘Send Help’ — Horror-comedy of a modern shipwreck
Dylan O’Brien and Rachel McAdams? Count us in! Team Sassy loves a dark comedy that keeps you giggling and gripping your seat, and Send Help has officially become Megan’s latest obsession, who has already seen it twice! Describing it as if Misery met Cast Away, Megan describes it as “funnier, twistier and way more unhinged!” With packed cinemas full of people laughing, wincing and gasping as the plot kept flipping itself inside out, Send Help is the perfect gateway to horror with the actors’ comedic timing. (Plus, its corresponding press tour perfectly highlights the duo’s charismatic and humble personalities!) Catch a viewing in theatres now while you can!
A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms — Game of Thrones spin-off series
For Game of Thrones fans, there’s always a way to relive the era, and the newest Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, has fully captured the magic of the original series. Set about a century before the main series, it swaps political chaos for the sweetest adventure between a wandering knight and his adorable squire. Aida notes, “The vibe is way lighter, funnier and far less heavy than Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, which makes it dangerously bingeable in one sitting!” Plus, it spotlights some seriously impressive up-and-coming actors. And the best part? Season 2 is already confirmed for 2027 — we’re seated and ready!
