2024 Lam Tsuen Well-Wishing Festival, Wishing Tree & New Night Market Chinese New Year In Hong Kong

Every Lunar New Year, a vibrant pilgrimage takes place in the heart of Tai Po, as hundreds of thousands of locals and international visitors flock to the legendary Lam Tsuen Wishing Square. This iconic festival has cemented its status as a must-do Hong Kong experience, drawing crowds eager to partake in its unique, time-honoured rituals.

The main attraction is, of course, the chance to join the Chinese New Year tradition of casting wishes into the universe. Visitors can be seen carefully writing their hopes on bright red baos before tossing them high into the branches of the famous Wishing Trees, or lighting delicate paper lanterns to watch their aspirations float symbolically into the night sky. It’s a beautifully chaotic and hopeful spectacle that truly captures the spirit of the season.

When: 9am to 7pm (17 February); 9am to 9pm (18–22 February); 9am to 7pm (23 February–3 March)
